Successful grant application for the Research Training Group "Sensory Computational in Neural Systems"

The German Research Foundation (DFG) approved further funding for doctoral training at Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin (BCCN Berlin) until 2019.

How does the morphology of neural cells influence their physiology? How is information represented and transmitted in neural networks? How is perception affected by expectations and previous experiences? Which sensory inputs play a role in decision-making? The doctoral researchers and scientists of the Research Training Group (RTG) “Sensory Computation in Neural Systems“ work on research projects devoted to these questions and investigate the neural basis of perception and its influence on behavior.

After the successful evaluation of the first funding period, the RTG lead by Prof. Klaus Obermayer will receive funding for the next 4.5 years. The RTG was established in 2010 as a cooperation of the Technische Universität Berlin (coordinating institution) with the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Freie Universität Berlin and represents the central funding structure of the PhD Program at the BCCN Berlin.
