DAAD Prize for international student goes to BCCN Berlin master student

Andreea-Maria Gui wird mit dem "DAAD-Preis für hervorragende Leistungen ausländischer Studierender der TU Berlin - 2023" augezeichnet. Wir gratulieren herzlich und freuen uns sehr.

Frau Gui studiert seit Oktober 2020 im stark forschungsorientierten Masterprogramm Computational Neuroscience, in dem Studierende hervorragende analytische Fähigkeiten, gute Englischkenntnisse und reges Interesse an wissenschaftlicher Arbeit nachweisen.

Während ihres Studiums hat sich Frau Gui in verschiedener Weise für andere Studierende und ethische Belange im Bereich künstliche Intelligenz engagiert.

Sie ist Studierendensprecherin und in verschiedenen Kommissionen des Studiengangs aktiv und organisierte  ein „Master Student Symposium“ für die Studierenden einer jüngeren Kohorte des Masterprogramms. Weiterhin hat sie bei der Bernstein Conference  als studentische Mitarbeiterin unterstützt und auf der Vision Sciences Society conference 2023 in Florida, ein Poster mit dem Titel "Verbal interference with visual working memory" präsentiert.

Außerdem engagiert sie sich, die öffentliche Diskussion zu ethischen Implikationen von künstlicher Intelligenz auf die Gesellschaft voranzutreiben. Im Rahmen dieses Engagements hielt sie auf der Veranstaltung "Insipre(d) - Spring Edition" einen Vortrag mit dem Thema "Balancing Innovation and Ethics in AI" zusammen mit zwei weiteren Masterstudierenden. Frau Gui ist weiterhin Mitglied des „Board of European Students of Technology” (BEST) in der lokalen Gruppe von BEST Cluj-Napoca in Rumänien. Hier ist sie als Mentorin für Studierende aktiv und gibt ihr Wissen und ihre Erfahrung aus der Zeit als sie noch vor Ort war, an die aktuell vor Ort arbeitenden Mitglieder weiter.

Andreea-Maria Gui, master student at the BCCN Berlin, will be awarded with the "DAAD Prize for International Students with Outstanding Achievements - 2023". Congratulations.

Ms. Gui has been studying in the highly research-oriented Computational Neuroscience master's program since October 2020, in which students demonstrate excellent analytical skills, a good command of English, and a keen interest in scientific work.

During her studies, Ms. Gui has been involved in various ways with other students and ethical issues in the field of artificial intelligence.

She is a student representative and active in various committees in the master program. She organized a "Master Student Symposium" for students in a younger cohort and assisted at the Bernstein Conference as a student assistant. After a successful lab rotation, she presented at the Vision Sciences Society conference 2023 in Florida a poster entitled "Verbal interference with visual working memory".

She is also engaged in advancing the public discussion on ethical implications of artificial intelligence on society. As part of this commitment, she gave a talk at the "Insipre(d) - Spring Edition" event with the topic "Balancing Innovation and Ethics in AI" together with two other master students. Ms. Gui continues to be a member of the Board of European Students of Technology (BEST) in the local group of BEST Cluj-Napoca in Romania. Here she is active as a mentor for students and passes on her knowledge and experience.
