Livia de Hoz: Learning without reward in the auditory system

Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin

My group investigates the circuits and mechanisms underlying statistical learning, the learning of patterns in the surrounding stimuli. We hypothesize that statistical learning is an essential step in predictive coding and sensory gating. We focus on the role of auditory subcortico-cortical loops in these processes. We use a combination of behaviours and electrophysiological tools to assess plasticity and coding in different structures along the auditory system. I will present a general overview of our work with more detail on concrete aspects.
