Marius Schneider: Do neurons communicate through coherence?
Ernst Strüngmann Institute Frankfurt
Abstract
In their phenomenal Neuron paper, Schneider and colleagues question the famous „Communication Through Coherence" (CTC) hypothesis. It states that neurons synchronize their oscillations across brain areas to effectively transmit information. Marius Schneider will present both experimental and computational findings to argue for an alternative hypothesis. The researchers claim that coherence is not the cause but the result of effective neuronal communication.
