Oliver Brock: The Ethics of A.I.-chemy: When Science Meets Hype
Technical University Berlin
My goals for this talk are threefold: First, I would like to provide a personal perspective on the state of AI research today. This is difficult to gauge as extrapolation and exaggeration have become the norm. Must humankind fear being superseded by a super-AI in the near future? Second, I would like to comment on what happens when excitement starts to interfere with the scientific method, or, more specifically, with the academic system. What conclusions must we draw from the analysis of AI? And finally: should our quest for an ethical AI not start with an assessment of what the most pressing ethical questions are? These questions may be questions about AI scientists, about our society's ethical maturity, and about AI itself.
Guests are welcome!
