Michael Brecht ist neues Mitglied in der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (BBAW)
Michael Brecht wurde als Ordentliches Mitglied in die Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften gewählt. Er gehört der Klasse "Biowissenschaften-Medizin" an. Die Urkunde wurde an alle 14 neuen Mitglieder am 5. Juni 2021, dem Leibniztag, während der Festveranstaltung überreicht.

Susanne Schreiber appointed as Einstein Professor/Neue Einstein Professorin: Susanne Schreiber
Susanne Schreiber will be supported as an Einstein Professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the BCCN Berlin. With this additional funding from the Einstein Foundation, Schreiber, an expert in theoretical neurophysiology, will now continue her research here at the BCCN Berlin and Humboldt/Universität zu Berlin.
Susanne Schreiber wird ihre Forschung zur neuronalen Informationsverarbeitung als künftige Einstein-Professorin an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und am BCCN Berlin fortführen.

Fatma's research includes the theory-driven understanding of language processing in the brain by using neuroimaging and predictive modeling approaches..

New Junior group "Distributed Cognition and Working Memory" (DisCo Lab) started
Thomas Christophel has just started his lab with his Emmy-Noether Grant "Distributed Cognition and Working Memory" at the BCCN Berlin and the Institute for Psychology, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Research focus is the storage of short-term memory contents and their use for decision-making.

BerlinBrains 7 Vortragsreihe
Das BCCN Berlin nimmt zum ersten Mal an der "BerlinBrains" Vortragsreihe in der URANIA teil. Die Vorträge sollen die Sichtbarkeit der Neurowissenschaften in Berlin erhöhen. In diesem Jahr geben fünf "Junior trifft Senior"-Teams interessante Einblicke in ihren Forschungsalltag.

Death of Lutz-Schimansky-Geier
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Lutz Schimansky-Geier, a long-time member of the BCCN Berlin and the Department of Physics, has passed away on November 22 of 2020 after a long period of illness.

BCCN Berlin and Interdisciplinary Center Computational Neuroscience successfully evaluated/ Das Interdisziplinäre Zentrum Computational Neuroscience der HU Berlin wird verlängert
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin prolonges the Interdisciplinary Center Computational Neuroscience (ICCN) for another five years after a rigourous evaluation process. Five reviewers were asked to write an evaluation of the two Centers' performance. Thanks to the positive reviews, the two relevant commissions of the HU Berlin, "Kommission für Forschung und wissenschaftlicher Nachwuchs (FNK)" and the "Akademischer Senat", decided to accept a renewal of the ICCN until 2025. The BCCN Berlin will renew its cooperation contract with Charité, HU Berlin and TU Berlin.
Die Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin wird das Interdisziplinäre Zentrum Computational Neuroscience nach einem rigorosen Evaluierungsprozess um fünf Jahre verlängern. Fünf Gutachter*innen waren in die Evaluierung einbezogen und sollten die Leistungen des Zentrums einschätzen. Dank der positiven Bewertungen empfahl die "Kommission für Forschung und wissenschaftlicher Nachwuchs (FNK)" dem "Akademischen Senat (AS)" der HU Berlin uneingeschränkt die Verlängerung des Zentrums. Der AS ist dieser Empfehlung nun gefolgt und das ICCN wird bis 2025 verlängert. Das BCCN Berlin wird nun den Kooperationsvertrag zwischen Charité, HU Berlin und TU Berlin verlängern lassen.
